Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary
Debrigarh, more than a wildlife sanctuary, is a natural wonder. Never before have we seen such diverse ecosystems in a single place. The Mahanadi River, also known as the holy Ganga, serves as the lifeline of this region. The beautiful sanctuary is known for its easy sightings of animals particularly Indian Bison, Wild Boars and Sambhar etc. The Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary is home to a large variety of fauna that comprises Jungle tigers, sloth bear, leopards, Chital, gaur, sambar, spotted deer, Chowsingha, bison, neelgai and hyena. Some of the most common reptile species found here are monitor lizards and chameleon.
Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary is easily accessible from both Bargarh and Sambalpur towns in Odisha. It is approximately 40 kilometers from Bargarh and around 55 kilometers from Sambalpur.
The best time to visit Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary is from November to April. During these months, temperatures are cooler and most animals can be spotted.
