According to the locals, Tarini Maa was being escorted from Puri to Kendujhar by the King of Kendujhar with the condition that if he turned around, she would not proceed any farther. Goddess followed the King as he rode his horse toward Kendujhar. The sound of Maa Tarini’s jewels may have alerted the king that she was following, but when such sounds failed to materialize close to the ghatagaon in the dense jungle, the king assumed she wasn’t following. However, Maa Tarini was coming and her ornamental sounds were hampered by the mud in the jungle. Because of the situation, Maa Tarini remained there.
